Here we are back at Cadwell in glorious sunshine. Giving Martin some tips on how to ride a good lap for when he's back racing Supermono here in a couple of weeks.

SOS - looking for a Mono!

I've been busy over the last week with my V2Pro coaching at Cadwell and Oulton.
But now I've just had the time to sit down and write my race report from the BSB meeting at Oulton Park last week.
However, the pressing thing at the moment is I'm on the look out for a Mono (preferably a Minimono) for the second round of the European Supermono Championship at Assen - weekend of 29th May.
If anyone out there has a spare bike and fancies going racing - please let me know.

Sunny Cadwell.
It's Hottrax Motorsport Endurance racing here this weekend. Doing a bit of coaching today with one of the competitors ready for the race. For a change it's not raining.

Wet and miserable.
Back at Oulton today for a coaching session. Weather is unpleasant and damp, yet it was dry and sunny on the drive here first thing.

good race.
Well it was an eventful ten laps. Alex Gault ran on early then Lea crashed out. Jeremy was leading with a gap of well over a second. In the last two laps I was making progress on him and crossed the line just 0.6 second behind.
As ponderous yet certain as Continental Drift.
Just fitting myself a seat bump to help overcome the acceleration forces. Also just found out that yesterday's times don't count so the next session will determin the grid for the race. Bu$§er!

Ready and raring.
All the competitors are in the same awning except Jeremy McWilliams he is doing his own thing.

Arrived at Oulton.
Here we are ready for the first round of the Harley davidson trophy races. Paddock is packed and strangely enough we have managed to park in exactly the same spot that we were in last year. Dan Linfoot has called for some track tips in exchange for a cup of sugar. How neighbourly.

On a scale of 1 to 10.

Yesterday the pain was at full on maximum 10.
Today though I've woken up and its subsided to about 7.
I won't be racing but the whole supermono paddock is about 'family style' so we have come to support all the other riders and watch the race.
This is Sjoerd Buiten, he rides a Ducati 1098 that they have simply chopped the back cylinder off!
Obviously there is a bit more to than that - it is a beautiful technical achievement.

Lots of supermonos.
The race this weekend is really well supported with in excess of 30 monos on the grid. Not sure if I will be there for the race though.
Changed the gearing and the first flying lap was good over a second quicker.
Unfortunately this meant I used 2nd instead of 3rd coming out of the chicane and highsided.
Don't know what the bike is like but I'm in hospital in Verviers waiting for an xray.
Nothing broken but feel like I've been punched in the kidney.
Remember she's a moto x 450 at heart.

North Yorkshire Road Racing Club.
Up in Northallerton tonight its the 'sponsored riders' evening. The club works hard throughout the year with social evenings and special events to raise funds to allocate to racers. This year they are sponsoring 15 riders and I am lucky enough to be one!

I hope it dries up.
Back at Cadwell coaching. This morning it's grizzly and wet. I sincerely hope it's going to dry up otherwise it will be a long long day...

Bit chilly at Cadwell today.
Russ has treated himself to a new bike to do BMCRC thunderbikes and is now treating himself to a coaching day. Last time we were here he was riding a mini twin so it will be interesting to see how he gets on with this bike.

Thanks Wayne and Norfolkline.
Just typing my report of the trip while cruising across the Channel on one of www.norfolkline.com excellent ferries. Wayne Bullen is a long time sponsor of motorcycle sport so will always give competitors a good deal. Cheers.

driving home the scenic route.
We were in a rush to get to Spain so we did motorways all the way. We fancy a change for the drive back so we are taking the small roads through the mountains. The scenery is breathtaking. Makes me feel very insignificant.
Just before we set off home.
Yesterday I ran with the cameras on Frank to test some new batteries. Got some good footage of Jenny Tinmouth out on track. So this morning after packing the van I had time to run through it with her. She's certainly talented; a good, smooth, fast rider.

Good times.
We have had lots of sessions today. Tried many different settings. Just got one session out on Frank. Got some good video of other riders in the advanced group.
Things to ponder.
Getting plenty of miles under "Steve's" drive belt now. Doing some experimenting with tyre pressures. Got lots of great on board video footage.

Good day today.
Well I've spent a couple of sessions today just putting miles on 'Steve'. He's loosened up nicely now. I built the revs up gradually throughout the day. I now know the limiter kicks in about 6,800. More to do on the suspension tomorrow.
'Frank' is having a good time too.
This is the first time I have ever ridden Frank just on my own, not on a coaching day. With no noise restrictions we have even taken his decibel killers out; so now he really feels like he's not at work but on holiday.
Well we have arrived.
So despite being almost 500 quid lighter we decided to press on to the test in Spain. So here we are at Alcarras with Hottrax.

Ouch!
Really pi$$ed off. Was pulled in the services while riding through to run up and down the gears. One policeman seemed bike friendly and was prepared to let me off with just one ticket. The other one sensed a record for his station and escorted me back there. Ten tickets and 495 Euros later I am wondering whether we can afford to go on to the test. Fancy that. No such thing as a day light MOT in France!
Oh dear.
Well I managed to do 28 miles before being pulled by the Gendarmerie. I dont know what I will be in trouble for exactly as I was only running the bike in. But I am worried its going to cost me all that I managed to save up gritting over Christmas.
Nearly at Lyon.
Only about another nine hours to go. If the weather brightens up I might put "Steve's" number plate on and do some distance. He's only got 8 miles on the clock and it would loosen him up before we get on track.

Born to be bad...
just picked up "Steve" from Riders of Bridgewater. He might be a big fella but we will manage to squeeze him in the van alongside "Frank".Phil Jessop has told me ' just get out and ride it, do anything you like to it '. Should be interesting...
Sunday, February 28, 2010
Frank's in the van.
He's already loaded and looking forward to a short European holiday to blow away the winter cobwebs. We should be collecting his new mate for 2010 "Steve" on the way to the ferry. More on him later.

Cash Wanted!
11/04/2010 Valencia
25/04/2010 Assen
09/05/2010 Monza
27/06/2010 Misano
11/07/2010 Brno
01/08/2010 Donington
05/09/2010 Nurburgring
All I need now is £35,000, or $57,000 or €40,000 whichever way you want to look at it!
That's everything all in - I just have to get myself to the meetings, turn up and ride - we get to keep the bike at the end of the season - so I suppose that's something. What do you think? Do you think I could manage to find 35 people who would pay £1,000 to join a club with a 1 in 35 chance of owning the bike?
Got to think of something...

Trusty CG.
Been called out to do some ploughing and gritting. Plenty of snow. Only way I can guarantee not to get stuck on the way to work is to go on the CG.
